Tasic Pure Oils - A Story of Resilience, Motherhood and Starting Again

Tasic Pure Oils didn't begin with a business plan.

It began with Lecelle Tasic trying to rebuild her life.

In 2015, Lecelle was a single mother who had escaped domestic violence. She was working as a registered nurse, raising her daughter and trying to create a more secure future for them both.

Around the same time, she was struggling to find skincare gentle enough for herself and her daughter, who had been born prematurely.

What started as a very personal search would eventually become Tasic Pure Oils, an Australian-made skincare and haircare brand built through some of the most challenging periods of Lecelle's life.

But the journey from there was anything but straightforward.

Starting again

During her pregnancy, Lecelle found that many of the moisturisers she tried irritated her skin. She began looking for simpler alternatives and discovered argan and rosehip oils.

When her daughter arrived prematurely, Lecelle found herself reaching for argan oil for her daughter's delicate skin too.

Pure oils weren't cheap, so she started buying larger quantities. She would bottle what she didn't use for friends and colleagues who had begun asking about her skin.

It was small. Informal. And certainly not the beginning of some carefully planned beauty empire.

At that point, Lecelle was focused on something much more immediate: starting again.

Having left a violent relationship, building financial independence mattered. Selling products gave her a way to earn additional income while continuing her nursing career and looking after her daughter.

Slowly, what had begun out of necessity started becoming a business.

Building it herself

There was no investment behind Tasic Pure Oils. No big launch team. No established network waiting to open doors.

Lecelle learned as she went.

She worked as a nurse while building the business around her life as a mother. She learned ecommerce, packaging, marketing and customer service. She worked with formulations and suppliers, packed orders and spoke directly with customers.

Money made through the business went back into keeping it moving.

Those early years weren't just about growing an Australian skincare brand. For Lecelle, the business represented independence and the possibility of building something that belonged to her.

Over time, she also began speaking more openly about her experience with domestic violence and starting again.

It's a part of her story she hasn't tried to hide.

Instead, it became part of the reason she wanted to show other women, particularly single mothers and women rebuilding their lives, that circumstances don't necessarily have to determine what comes next.

Then, in 2022, everything changed again.

A phone call no parent expects

Lecelle's daughter suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and stroke.

She needed emergency brain surgery.

Suddenly, the business Lecelle had spent years building became secondary to being beside her daughter.

She stepped away from nursing to become her full-time carer.

But Tasic Pure Oils didn't completely stop.

In one of the more remarkable parts of Lecelle's story, she continued keeping the business going while her daughter was in hospital — managing orders around hospital life, restocking when she could and getting parcels out to customers.

It was during this period that another chapter of the business began.

Following surgery, her daughter's scalp couldn't tolerate harsh hair products. Lecelle went looking for something gentle enough for what her daughter was going through.

When she couldn't find what she wanted, she started working on her own.

That eventually became Long and Strong, a sulphate-free haircare system developed around gentle scalp and hair care.

It wasn't a product created because Lecelle had identified a gap on a spreadsheet.

It came from being a mum trying to help her daughter recover.

Turning difficult moments into something useful

There is a pattern running through Lecelle's story.

Some of the most important parts of Tasic Pure Oils have emerged from periods she would never have chosen to experience.

Leaving domestic violence. Becoming a single mother. Building a business while working as a nurse. Then putting her career aside when her daughter's health changed overnight.

Rather than pretending those experiences didn't happen, Lecelle has allowed them to shape what she builds and why she builds it.

Long and Strong is perhaps the clearest example.

What began during her daughter's recovery eventually became part of the wider Tasic Pure Oils range. The connection has since come full circle through the brand's support for Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation.

For Lecelle, it's difficult to separate the business from the life behind it.

And perhaps that's the point.

Ten years later

Tasic Pure Oils today looks very different from the small operation Lecelle started in 2015.

What began with one product has grown into an Australian-made skincare and haircare brand serving more than 1,000 customers.

It has also received growing recognition, with Tasic Pure Oils becoming an Australian Small Business Champion Awards finalist in 2024, 2025 and 2026.

Three consecutive years of recognition is significant for any small business.

For Lecelle, it represents something more.

It's a long way from the woman who was simply trying to create stability for herself and her daughter a decade earlier.

Yet despite that growth, the reasons behind the business remain deeply personal.

Why Australian made matters

For Lecelle, keeping her skincare and haircare Australian made means staying close to what she's creating and how it's produced.

Tasic Pure Oils is Australian Made certified, with products formulated locally in small batches.

But when you hear Lecelle's whole story, Australian made becomes about much more than where something is manufactured.

Behind a locally made product there is often a person taking a risk.

Someone learning new skills, solving problems, dealing with setbacks and continuing when it would probably be easier to stop.

Sometimes there's an extraordinary story sitting behind an ordinary-looking bottle on a shelf.

Lecelle's is one of them.

More than the products

It's easy to describe Tasic Pure Oils as an Australian hair and skincare business.

That's true, but it doesn't really explain it.

The story is about a woman who had to start again and decided to build something of her own.

It's about a mother who built a business alongside raising her daughter, and then reshaped her life when that daughter suddenly became seriously ill.

And it's about continuing to build through circumstances that could easily have stopped the journey altogether.

More than ten years after Lecelle first started, Tasic Pure Oils is now joining the growing community of Australian makers on Made In Australia.
