Johnny Retro Maple BBQ Sauce brings together savoury BBQ flavour, cracked pepper and real Canadian maple syrup for a distinctive sauce that's rich and beautifully balanced without being overly sweet.

Originally developed for our Melbourne food truck, Maple BBQ became the sauce we reached for when we wanted plenty of flavour without the heavy sweetness often associated with maple barbecue sauces.

The maple adds depth and balance rather than dominating the sauce, while the peppery, savoury finish gives it unmistakable character.

Maple BBQ, Done Differently

Maple BBQ doesn't have to mean sweet.

Our recipe uses real Canadian maple syrup as part of a rich, savoury BBQ sauce, balanced with pepper and spice to create something distinctly different from a traditional sweet barbecue sauce.

It's bold enough for beef, burgers, ribs and grilled meats, while its savoury character makes it equally at home anywhere you want to add rich BBQ flavour.

Born on Our Food Truck

Our sauces started life on the Maple Leaf Meats food truck in Melbourne.

When we couldn't find the sauces we wanted to serve, we started making our own. Since 2016, those recipes have been served to real customers across our burgers, ribs, wings and other food truck favourites before becoming the foundation of the Johnny Retro range we manufacture today.
