Johnny Retro Maple BBQ Sauce is a distinctive Australian foodservice BBQ sauce developed for restaurants, cafés, pubs, burger bars, smokehouses, food trucks, caterers and commercial kitchens.

Originally created for our own Melbourne food truck, Maple BBQ combines rich savoury flavour, cracked pepper and real Canadian maple syrup to deliver depth and balance without becoming overly sweet.

Maple BBQ is often associated with sweetness. Ours was deliberately created differently.

Real Canadian maple syrup forms part of a rich, savoury sauce balanced with pepper and spice, giving commercial kitchens a BBQ sauce with its own distinctive flavour profile.

It works particularly well with beef, burgers, ribs, pork and grilled meats and can be used as a finishing sauce, glaze, dipping sauce, burger sauce or ingredient in your own kitchen creations.

Johnny Retro Maple BBQ Sauce was originally developed for our Maple Leaf Meats food truck, where sauces need to perform consistently through real service.

Its combination of savoury depth, pepper and maple gives operators a versatile sauce that can work across multiple dishes while still bringing something distinctive to the menu.

Born in Foodservice

Before Johnny Retro was on a retail shelf, our sauces were being served to customers from our Melbourne food truck.

We started making our own because we wanted sauces with the flavour, quality and consistency we needed for our own menu.

Those recipes became the foundation of Johnny Retro and continue to shape the foodservice sauces we manufacture today.
