Outbacker is our practical sunscreen with insect repellent (SPF 50+). It’s for when the sun is up and the bugs are out, so you can pack light and get moving.

Product Info

Sun protection and bug repellent in one tube. Outbacker is an SPF 50+ sunscreen lotion with DEET-based insect repellent, so you're not juggling a sunscreen in one hand and a bug spray in the other.

FAQs

Does it feel sticky or greasy?
No. It's a lotion, rub it in and try to tell where it went.

Does it have a strong smell?
There's a slight scent from the DEET; that's the repellent doing its job. It fades once it dries down.

Can I use it on my face?
Yes, just avoid the eye area. Apply to your hands first, then spread onto your face rather than applying directly from the tube.

Do I need to reapply more often than regular sunscreen?
The sun protection is water resistant for up to 4 hours, but the insect repellent lasts around 2 hours. If the bugs are the bigger problem, reapply at the 2-hour mark.

Is it okay for children?
This product contains DEET, so check the label for age guidelines. For kids who just need sun protection without the repellent, the Kinder sunscreen is the better option.

Can I just use bug spray over a regular sunscreen?
You can, but layering bug spray over sunscreen can reduce SPF effectiveness. A combined formula is designed so one doesn't undermine the other.

What insects does it repel?
Mosquitoes and flies. DEET is the most widely tested repellent recommended by Australian health authorities.
