Johnny Retro Thick with Kick Tomato Sauce is our take on an everyday classic — made with plenty of character. Rich and robust with a thick consistency and gentle spice finish, it's a tomato sauce that complements great food without overpowering it.

Originally developed for our Melbourne food truck, this is one of the sauces that started the Johnny Retro story.

A Classic with a Little More Character

We wanted to create the kind of tomato sauce we'd want to eat ourselves — familiar enough to be an everyday favourite, but with enough flavour to stand apart.

The result is a rich Australian tomato sauce with depth, a thick texture and just enough spice to give it the Thick with Kick name.

Perfect alongside burgers, sausages, meat pies, hot chips and other Australian favourites, or simply anywhere you'd normally reach for tomato sauce.

Born on Our Food Truck

Our sauces started life on the Maple Leaf Meats food truck in Melbourne.

When we couldn't find the sauces we wanted to serve, we started making our own. Since 2016, those recipes have been served to real customers across our food truck menu and eventually became the foundation of the Johnny Retro range we manufacture today.
